COPELAND'S SURFBOARDS

      JIM COPELAND founded COPELAND’S DIVE SHOP in 1958 at their original Six Points location in Corpus Christi, Texas. He soon began selling surfboards and became the first surf shop in Corpus Christi.

       He began making his own brand, COPLAND’S SURFBOARDS in the early 1960’s. Jim also established surfboard rental stands on the gulf beaches and Port Aransas, Texas. His family run business thrived until 1970 when shortly after moving to South Padre Island Drive, hurricane CELIA struck leaving his new shop undamaged. 

      However, his surfboard building location was destroyed and never rebuilt marking the end of COPELAND’S SURFBOARDS. Jim is a pioneer in scuba diving and his family run dive business still thrives at 4041 South Padre Island Drive in Corpus Christi, Texas. Phone 361-854-1135
